WYOMING IS PAYING GREATLY FOR THE LACK OF QUALITY CHILD CARE AND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SYSTEMS

Since June of 2009 the Wyoming Women’s Foundation, with Rockefeller Family Foundation funds and local grants, has joined other statewide organizations to advocate for improving Wyoming’s workforce and the economic self-sufficiency of families and women with stronger access to affordable, quality child care.

WYWF has been traveling around the state meeting with business and economic development leaders, child care providers, local city officials and legislators to determine the status of child care in communities and to hear about solutions generated at a local level to impact child care. Some areas report no preschool and families struggling to find child care options that meet their needs, whether that be at-home environments or larger settings with pre-school built into the child’s day. Read here to learn about overall findings, possible solutions, and how we can improve child care without spending any more money.
