Wyoming Women’s Foundation Hosts Annual "Friendraiser"
The Wyoming Women’s Foundation plans to honor women who have served in America’s armed forces at its annual friendraiser luncheon.
The event is scheduled for noon on February 18 at the Little America Hotel in Cheyenne. The WYWF is grateful to State Farm Insurance for sponsoring the luncheon.
A friendraiser is a chance to see old friends and make new ones while rallying around the work being done in Wyoming for women and girls.
The WYWF has a history of helping Wyoming’s women. Just in the past year, it awarded over $60,000 in grants to organizations such as Volunteers of America to provide mentoring, life skills instruction, educational and vocational assistance and housing to young women in crisis. It also gave aid to Climb Wyoming to assist low-income single mothers through job training, life skills programming, and counseling.
Over 500 women have been invited to this year’s friendraiser in an effort to encourage continued support of the WYWF’s work and to garner new allies.
The event’s keynote speaker is State Auditor Rita Meyer, who recently retired as a colonel after 23 years of serving the Wyoming Air National Guard. Meyer’s speech is entitled, “Opportunity Knocking: Are You Ready to Answer the Door?”
Guests will also hear from Val Burgess, one of the members of the WYWF’s board of directors.
This year’s friendraiser has been coordinated by WYWF’s new executive director, Richelle Keinath. Keinath began working for the foundation in early January, after having served four years as the co-executive director at the Eppson Center for Seniors. Keinath earned her master’s degree in American studies from the University of Wyoming. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Keinath replaces Laurel Parker West as the executive director.
The Wyoming Women’s Foundation is a subset of the Wyoming Community Foundation. The Community Foundation works to connect people who care with causes that matter to build a better Wyoming.
