Happy Father's Day to all the men out there who have children.
Here at the Women's Foundation we know that all of us working together is what will make our communities more prosperous. All girls need to learn that it is vital to value their gifts and honor themselves. Dads play a central role in their daughter's lives. So if you are lucky enough to be a dad or have a dad, don't forget to celebrate!
The downturn in our economy last fall is affecting WYWF, like all of you and our endowment dollars are down, this affects our grantmaking ability. We are actively working on a public awareness-advocacy campaign on gender wage disparity and how lack of quality affordable childcare complicates women's ability to be economically self-sufficient. We continue to offer our WAGE workshops in different areas around the state, addressing the need for women to educate themselves on the wage gap, benchmark a salary and negotiate for a competitive wage.
Please feel free to contact us if you or a group you know is interested.
Happy Father's Day,
Richelle |
| Ready, Set, Act |
The Wyoming Women's Foundation is working to create statewide awareness of the barriers to economic self-sufficiency and support systems changes to eliminate those barriers. That's just part of our mission.
But what if you don't know what those barriers are? How can you educate yourself on the issues that are preventing Wyoming's women from achieving economic self-sufficiency? What can you do to help? The Wyoming Women's Foundation is proud to introduce the Act tab on our website. Just one more step we are taking to help provide leadership.
Act right now and check it out. Think one person can't make a difference? The Wyoming Women's Foundation begs to differ and we know other organizations that would agree with us. Read about Youth Emergency Services in Gillette and how, with the help of a grant from the Wyoming Women's Foundation, they are acting to initiate change in their community through one-on-one relationship building.
Think you are too young to make a difference? The members of Girls Actively Participating can show you otherwise. They just completed their Wyoming Women's Foundation funded project, Hearing Our Voices, a documentary made by themselves about themselves.
So now is the time. Ready, set, Act for the women of Wyoming. |
