Facts

 

These are just a few of the recent statistics regarding Wyoming women and girls. The realities are these:

 

• Wyoming’s wage gender gap is the worst in the nation. Women in Wyoming earn 66 cents to every dollar earned by men. (Status of Women in Wyoming - 2004).

 

• Seventy-one percent of single parent households are headed by women. Thirty-eight percent of these families live in poverty. (Department of Family Services - 2003).

 

• Forty-seven percent of all infants in Wyoming are born to women on Medicaid. (Department of Family Services – 2003).

 

• Wyoming ranks 48th in the US for mental health status with significant numbers of suicide among women.
