Leap Into Leadership

The bipartisan Wyoming Women’s Legislative Caucus is building equality in the Equality State by hosting women at the State Capitol in Cheyenne for the second annual “Leap into Leadership” event on Thursday and Friday, February 12 and 13, 2009.  Leap into Leadership will familiarize participants with Wyoming government’s legislative and executive branches, encourage women to express themselves, and help strengthen women’s leadership at all levels of community and public service.

Founded in 2006, one of the primary goals of the bipartisan Wyoming Women’s Legislative Caucus is to encourage more Wyoming women to run for political office and increase the number of women in elected positions.  That’s why the Caucus is hosting the second annual Leap into Leadership event at the Wyoming Legislature in partnership with Equality State Policy Center, Wyoming Business Alliance, and Wyoming Women’s Foundation. The Wyoming Women’s Legislative Caucus is a project of The Equipoise Fund.

The WAGE Project

seeks to bring understanding to the causes of the wage gap between men and women’s salaries, benchmark salaries in particular fields and geographical locations, as well as help women learn how to negotiate for a competitive wage based on their education and experience.
The WAGE Project workshops are offered to all interested parties, but it is tailored to high school graduates, female college students about to graduate, and women returning to the work force. The goal of the Wyoming Women’s Foundation is to help the program grow in communities across the state and to help combat the wage gap by arming women entering the workforce with the skills to ask for what they are worth.
After each workshop, the WAGE Project will present “train the trainer” sessions. These sessions will target individuals interested in helping women advocate for their financial compensation in the work place and who would like to contribute to individuals’ financial success by helping women earn a livable wage in Wyoming.
