Wells Fargo Gifts Wyoming Women's Foundation

Cody, WY

Wells Fargo has awarded the Wyoming Women’s Foundation $10,000 to continue their gender wage gap education effort around the state.

The gender wage gap was recently listed as one of the state’s top areas that need our attention and resources in their 2009 Wyoming Family Photo: A report on the well being of our children and families.  The Wyoming Women’s Foundation (WYWF) is a leading advocate of this issue.  Through various efforts the WYWF seeks to bring understanding to the causes of the wage gap between men and women’s salaries, benchmark salaries in particular fields and geographical locations, as well as help women learn how to negotiate for a competitive wage based on their education and experience.

Part of the WYWF’s efforts are wage education workshops.  These educational and skill building workshops are offered to all interested parties, and is often tailored specifically to high school graduates, female college students about to graduate, and women returning to the work force. The goal of the Wyoming Women’s Foundation is to help the program grow in communities across the state and to help combat the wage gap by arming women entering the workforce with the skills to ask for what they are worth.

The WYWF will use this funding to help create a sustainable effort across the state to help lower-income women receive education and training about the gender wage gap, what it means to them, and what they can do to help alleviate the largest gender wage disparity in the nation.
