We Couldn't Do it Without You!

If you have much, give of your wealth; If you have little, give of your heart  -Arab Proverb

Dear Supporter,
This past Saturday, the Wyoming Women's Foundation celebrated our 10 year anniversary!  The event was a success and we delighted in seeing so many people attend who have helped us get to where we are today. We were reminded that without all of you, the Foundation would not have been able to grant funds to  over 90 organizations.  Thousands of women and girls have been affected by the amazing non-profit programs the Women's Foundation supports around the state.
We believe the Wyoming Women's Foundation is exceptional, and we believe you do too.  Because of this, we are not bashful about once again, asking for your help.  Continue to help make the Wyoming Women's Foundation amazing, by giving.  In the next few weeks you may receive a letter that tells the story of how one woman was affected by the work of your funds.  We hope the letter serves as a reminder to you that the money you put towards Wyoming women and girls does have an impact.  And we thank you for it!   If you do not receive a letter, we will post it in our next e-news, so look for it and again, thanks so much.

Fabulous Wyoming Women!

The much anticipated Women to Watch website is ready to go!

The website serves as a storehouse of movers and shakers across the state willing to share their time and talents with others.  Our website will serve as a central location where women can be found to serve as speakers, board members, committee members, or simply as resources for information, to name a few possibilities.

If you know someone who you feel would be a great candidate, please nominate them here.

Keep Workers in Wyoming:  Provide Quality Childcare

In 2001 the Wyoming Women's Foundation was thrilled to grant $10,000 to the Wyoming Children's Action Alliance.  The funds supported a statewide conference for childcare providers and operations advocating for the well being of Wyoming's children.  The need for quality childcare in Wyoming and across the nation continues to be an issue.  Sarah Mikesell Growney, WYWF's Advocacy Coordinator has stated, "We know that employers across the state report that the lack of childcare hinders their ability to recruit and retain employees."

When we look at childcare in these terms, we see a bigger picture; childcare affects us all.  More

Sex Trafficking:  Modern Day Slavery

To most of us in Wyoming, sex trafficking seems other-worldly. But as we read the news each day, articles attest to the frequency of this horrific crime.  Estimates are varying (700,000 worldwide according to the FBI in 2001 to 1.5 million by UNICEF) as to just how many women and girls are affected, but it is clear that the issue is one that is widespread.  The Department of Health and Human Services states that victims are often lured in by:

-A promise of a good job in another country -A false marriage proposal turned into a bondage situation -Being sold into the sex trade by parents, husbands, boyfriends -Being kidnapped by traffickers And we don't have to look far to see that sex trafficking is no stranger to the US  or to Wyoming, for that matter.  It was only in 2007 that a trafficking ring was broken up in Jackson.
