WAGE
Wage Project Update
Laramie, WY
The last couple of months have been a very busy time for the Wage Project at the Wyoming Women’s Foundation. Over the last several months we have helped host several Wage Project workshops all across the state. The Wage Project seeks to bring understanding to the causes of the wage gap between men and women’s salaries, benchmark salaries in particular fields and geographical locations, as well as help women learn how to negotiate for a competitive wage based on their education and experience. Wyoming has the largest gender wage disparity in the nation, so it is essential to educate and empower the population of our state.
Participants in the workshop have been as varied as the locations we have hosted workshops: in Laramie we worked with high school students involved in the Upward Bound program and college students on Campus at UW, in Rock Springs, Rawlins, and Ethete we reached out to members of the community, in Casper the workshop was hosted on the Casper College campus, and in Evanston participants of the BOOST program completed the education. Staff from the WYWF have also been invited to preset at conferences about the Wage Project including the Wyoming Women's Business Expo in Cody and the Women's Leadership Conference in Laramie. The WYWF is getting the education and skills out there but we still need your help. If you are interested in hosting a Wage Project workshop in your community, please email Katie@wycf.org or call 307-721-8300.
