Dear Supporter,
Philanthropy Creates Possibility.
One Woman's Impact
In a state whose wage gap is highest in the nation, we look to a male dominated industry to find a story of immense success and philanthropy in Merle Chambers. Chambers was president and CEO of Axem Resources Incorporated, a company leading the way in the oil and gas industry. The company was sold in 1997, allowing Chambers to focus on philanthropic endeavors. The Wyoming Women's Foundation was one such endeavor. WYWF was established in 1999 with a challenge grant from Chambers Family Fund to the Wyoming Community Foundation. Merle Chambers' success in an industry which tends to be male dominated is a great example of the possibility for women in Wyoming. Her generosity has made the possibility for women to be successful a reality for many women across our state. More on Chambers Your generosity can help do the same. The Wyoming Women's Foundation educates, trains, and provides assistance to women across the state in order to help close the wage gap and empower women. Wage Gap Video Laramie County Community College is our featured recipient in the efforts they bring to emphasizing the importance of education among women, one of the spokes in the economic self-sufficiency wheel.

WYWF Welcomes New Board Member, Brandi Johnston
| The Wyoming Women's Foundation is proud to introduce Brandi Johnston, an office assistant from La Barge, Wyoming as the newest member to the Wyoming Women's Foundation Board. Johnston grew up in Wyoming and feels she understands the struggle and sacrifice of Wyoming women. Being a daughter in a single parent household, Johnston is well aware of the challenges that arise, but also feels, "the circumstances of women don't have to be as difficult with groups like the Wyoming Women's Foundation to assist them. " Johnston believes, "Education and changing of the thought process is the foundation for success." When asked what specific area she felt was most important to improving women's progress in the state, Johnston replied, "sustainability." "I feel that if you assist a woman in being able to alter her thought process, life style, and habits towards success through education you are doing more to help her and her family, long term, than if you simply continue to give aid."
Johnston is excited to be a part of a program that improves the lives of individuals and families throughout the state.
