Ann Redman receives Woman of Distinction Award
Laramie, WY
In November of 2009, Wyoming Women’s Foundation board member Ann Redman received the Woman of Distinction award from the University of Wyoming Women Student Leaders group. Ann was one of five women selected from nominations across the state honoring women who have made a difference through their leadership.
Ann concluded her nine years of service on the board of the Wyoming Women’s Foundation in October of 2009, and continues to help the WYWF fulfill its vision of achieving economic self-sufficiency for the women of Wyoming. Ann was also selected as the 2001 Athena recipient for her volunteer work with women and girls and her professional work. Athena is a program of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce. She is founder and chair of the Wyoming Latina Youth Conference, and working closely with committee members and the Teen Advisors, has hosted eight conferences. Ann has also received the Jesse Vialpando Spirit and Service Award.
Professionally, Ann has worked under several of Wyoming’s Governors. Her service in International Trade Assistance brought her in contact with people from around the world. She has also had the opportunity to coordinate the visits of visiting dignitaries and the official ceremony for the Wyoming Centennial.
When asked for advice on leadership to younger leaders, Ann offered “Do not let anyone else define who you are. Where you came from makes you who you are today, and with dedication and hard work, you can be or do anything you want.”
